There are several elements that make up Indigo Dance Arts:

• Indigo Dance Arts Ensemble (youth repertoire company – by audition – comprehensive dance training including exploration of dual identities as artist and agent for social justice)

• After-school dance arts programming for elementary schools.

• The Dance Collective Studio –
  • Classes for children, youth and adults
  • Pre-professional training (ballet, modern, contemporary)
  • Global dance community classes (i.e., Flamenco, Salsa, West African)
  • Collective space for community dance artists (classes, rehearsals, auditions, performances, etc.)

   
• Residencies for out of town performing artists

Indigo Dance Arts is directed by Eva Marie Shivers, J.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Shivers is a nationally recognized researcher on issues related to culture, community, family and child development. She has danced professionally in Phoenix, New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. And she has taught dance and musical theater in community settings since 1984.
